Programme

The western economy has suffered the worst financial crisis since the recession and remains in a state of shock. Debt and equity finance for businesses is increasingly unavailable as leverage is drastically reduced.

However, social finance is in rude health, aided by the advent of Big Society Capital and the actions of myriad investors. The ClearlySo seventh annual Social Business Conference will explore the movement of social investment capital and identify the opportunities for ambitious social entrepreneurs in this fast-growth, ‘boom’ sector.

The Olympics Legacy and Social Enterprise

There has been a lot of rhetoric around London 2012 being the ‘most sustainable’ Olympic Games in history, but the growing debate around the Legacy can be quelled by providing tangible evidence of initiatives which will change the face of London and the UK. This session will provide a platform for leaders in their fields, who are passionate about a sustainable legacy emerging from the Games, to articulate their vision of how social enterprise will play a vital role in the success of this process.

How do you get the most SROI (and ROI) from one tonne of waste?  Hear from three social enterprise leaders who are changing the way we think of the word ‘waste’.  The session will highlight the new business models focused on capturing more social, green and economic ‘value’ from the waste sector, including best practice case studies from both the EU & US markets.

Introduction: Oliver Waddington-Ball, Founder, One Tonne

True Leadership

What it means for you as a leader and what it means for your specific social enterprise.  If anyone attempts to tell you what sort of leader you are you should be run away as fast as possible. Gurus who tell people how to lead make followers, not leaders. This session, by our top rated speaker, John Sutherland will draw out the leadership you need and the leader you are.
